I'm so excited to share my latest living room project with you! This space was a dream to work on-- so large and open with tons and tons of natural light. And my client was ready to purge, purge, purge (and you know I love a good purge!) so we essentially started with a blank slate. The goal was to create a living space that was light, open and chic, while keeping it comfortable so that it would be a good place to spend family time and entertain friends and family. The project was not going to be easy, but I had help==my client and I collaborated to make her vision happen. We had a plan and design concept for the space and then both found pieces and accessories that lined up with the vision for the room. The end result is stunning!
Here is a quick glimpse of the space before to give you an idea of the dark, bulky furniture that needed to be cleared out.
After clearing items out, the first priority was to order a new sofa that maximized seating without overwhelming the space. If you're thinking about ordering new furniture, I always recommend taking care of ordering the biggest pieces as soon as possible. You can often wait more than 12 weeks for furniture like a sofa to arrive. When it comes to selecting a sofa, my best advice is to go light and neutral with a fabric that is easy to wipe up. Stains are inevitable, so try to pick a fabric that cleans well you won't sweat spills. And a neutral sofa doesn't make for a neutral room--you should definitely play with color in the accent pillows or area rug.
The next priority was to create a space for a dining room table. A small tulip table works great in the space--it's simple, fits perfectly in a tight spot, and brings in a new shape among the many square and rectangular pieces in the room.
With the couch and dining room table taken care of, there was a little empty nook that needed something fun. With all the great sunlight and a client who loved plants, a fiddle leaf fig was a no brainer. Adding a bar cart is ideal for a small space--they're great for entertaining guests and look beautiful the rest of the time. I was so excited when my client agreed that this rose gold bar cart was a must!
And of course no room refresh is complete without some styling.
Thanks to my client for choosing me to work on a such a beautiful room! Let me know if any questions on the process or sources for items shown.
