A Family Room for the Kids & Adults: Before & After

If you've been following the Sadie Road blog, it'll come as no surprise that my mission is to always create spaces for my clients that are both functional and beautiful. Those are the two key ingredients in building a home you love- it should reflect your personal style but it also has to suite you and your family's needs. My latest project is a perfect example of how to do just that. It's the room in the house where my client spends the majority of her time with her family. And because it's right off the backyard, there are toys, sports equipment and shoes that need a home in the room. But that doesn't mean that my client wants to see all of these things lying around everyday. She wanted a room that felt serene. A space for the kids to play in and for the adults to relax in. And she wanted to use the existing sofas and paint color. So, here's what I planned for the room:

1. Large area rug
2. Storage for toys, shoes, coats
3. Intimate seating area
4. Updated coffee + side tables
5. Style with accessories: Throw pillows, mirror, art print, flowers, tray and books.

Take a look at the before and afters to see how I incorporated each of these.

And the coolest part is that this room refresh did not cost my client a fortune and was done in just a few quick weeks. Let me know what you think in the comments below!
