This latest refresh was a classic case of a drab living room that had collected miscellaneous pieces of furniture over a long period of time. Some items were there because the clients bought them a long time ago and weren't sure what to do with them, while others were newer pieces intended to give the room a new look but didn't have a cohesive feel. I helped my clients narrow down which items should stay, which should go and how to tie all the pieces together through some new pieces and accessories. It's a great example of how a lot of the time you can use what you already own to give a room a new look.
The overall goal of the design concept was to lighten the room and make it feel more open and airy. There's lots of natural wood in the room so I wanted to balance out the darker tones by adding in some lighter shades of whites, blues and grays.
The shopping list:

Take a look at these before + after pictures, I promise you'll be amazed by the transformation!
The clients already owned a lot of great pieces including a custom console and two accent chairs. They worked great in the room and just needed some styling!
The mantel was another area that needed a few accessories to give it an updated look.
We wanted to include a comfy chair as a place to curl up and read, and amazingly my clients had a simple, neutral chair in a different room that worked perfectly in this corner.
And a few more shots of the room because it's just so dang pretty:
This is the first room you walk into at my client's home and giving it a fresh, updated look sets the tone for an inviting, serene space that matches the style of the rest of the home.
Hope you enjoyed the before + afters as much as I did!
